Have you contemplated Christmas shopping online this season? I know it’s somewhat early (for some of us) but Black Friday kicked off the season and I haven’t stopped shopping since.
This will be the first year that I’ve ever shopped for gifts sooner than two weeks before the big day. I was so pumped with fuel from all the money I had saved after Black Friday that I made a pact with myself. This Christmas season would be the first of two things: ridiculous savings, and early shopping!
This morning I woke up with more shopping on my mind – Christmas shopping online this time. Around 11 a.m. I started looking for my daughters last few Christmas gifts (yes her last few – I’m getting her out the way) and I remembered I can get paid!

Well I have, and I’ve always said that’s got to be one of the coolest ways to get paid. It’s just, until now I hadn’t even thought about I too can get paid to shop online.
The first site to come to my mind was Ebates.com. There you can get rebates, cash back, discount coupons, or online coupons for shopping at one of the 1000 online stores on their site.
On my first visit to the site, just for signing up I was offered one of five – $5 gift cards of my choice — this was $5 in my pocket and I hadn’t bought anything yet.
The sign up was painless, all you have to do is enter your email address, create a password and you’re on your way.
Each time you visit a store through Ebates’ website they advise you as to which incentive you’ll receive. The store I chose for example, offered 2% cash back for my total purchase. I ended up making $2.88 from my first purchase!
Of course I had to tell Tiffany about my lucrative morning. I had made $5 just for signing up and then turned around and made another $2.88 for shopping through their site.
I noticed the site had a “Tell-A-Friend” link and to my surprise you also receive $5 each time you refer a friend.
By 1p.m. I was really on a roll. I had already made $7.88 Christmas shopping online and I know another $5 is around the corner because my sista, whom I referred, is shopping as we speak!
Christmas shopping online gives you the savings you can’t get at the store.
So what should you do to get paid to shop online?
First you go to Ebates.com, create an account, then select the store of your choice from their site and start shopping.
Ebates already has it set up where all you have to do is click on the stores’ link to receive your incentive. It is quick, easy, and so rewarding!
Because Ebates has teamed up with these different stores, anyone they refer that makes a purchase can retain either a rebate or a percentage from what they buy — something like 2-6% at participating stores.
Ebates of course gets a kickback (paid) from these retailers for sending them business. So for example, if you make a $250 purchase through a store that’s offering a 2% rebate you make $5.
You are however paid quarterly and you must have at least $5 accumulated in your account before they cut you a check for the quarter. Email notifications are sent to keep you updated.
There are tons of other perks you can receive from Christmas shopping online other than money in your pocket – there is also the gift of giving.
