As soon as we turned 15 in May of ‘98 we knew (without really knowing) that we needed a way to manifest money – we needed a summer job. We also knew it would be difficult to get a “real” job at such a young age so we went to a summer job facility to let them know we were looking for work.
We had no idea what they would have available for us to do, but we knew we wanted to work at a daycare. We signed up for the program and requested to be assigned to a daycare as that was our field of interest.
Some days later we both had summer jobs at a daycare and we enjoyed the heck out it!
The summer job only lasted a few months but it allowed us to make enough money to buy school supplies and clothes for the upcoming school year so we were happy.
That following year, when school was over and we were now 16, we were finally able to get out and get a real job. We both knew we wanted to be Sonic girls. We knew we wanted to skate food out to cars, make sundaes, and not worry about cleaning up tables in behind the customers like at other fast food restaurants.
We had no clue how we were going to obtain a job at the local Sonic Drive In because our home town is small and the joint was pretty much sowed up by other high school students.
One day while eating at Sonic we noticed a classmate who was working and told her we needed to speak to her boss about starting work there. The boss of Sonic wasn’t in that day so she told us to come back later in the week and she would introduce us.
We went back to meet the boss days later, she asked a few questions (specifically could we work on Saturday as that was prom night and lots of students were going to be off), then gave us both the job on the spot!
Working at Sonic was the best job we could have landed as high school students. We were known as the Sonic twins, we both obtained leadership positions and everybody (from the managers to the customers) just loved us!
The point we’re making here is that we knew we needed a way to make money and without even thinking about it we knew how to manifest money to us. This was done by acknowledging that we wanted to work, specifically stating where we wanted to work, and taking it one step further and applying for the job.
